Guess what day it is? #NationalRelaxationDay 

 

In honor of such a wonderful day, we ask everyone out there to taking care of yourself today. Take some time to relax, do something that makes you happy and be you! As a small business owner, it isn't easy to do this.

 

There are always dozens of tasks that need to be done, ideas popping into your head or just worried about something coming up that you need to prepare for. I understand and as I take some time for myself on this fine holiday, I hope you too can carve out some time to do something relaxing for yourself. You deserve it! 

 

Are you having trouble balancing both work and your personal life? Here are 6 tips for keeping everything in check!

 

1) Do NOT aspire to be perfect

 

No one is perfect, everyone has their faults, so why stress yourself out attempting something unachievable? Love your imperfect self and aspire to be YOU.

 

2) Unplug 

 

This is becoming more relevant each and every day as more and more technology becomes a part of our lives. Take time to step away from electronics by going outside, reading a good book, spending time with family or friends, taking on a new hobby, etc.

 

3) Exercise Regularly

 

Taking time to simply go for a 10-minute walk can make all the difference! This time can be in the morning before work, on your lunch break or in the evening before you go to bed. You'll get some fresh air, stretch out your tight muscles and be able to think clearly.

 

4) Limit Time-Wasting Activities

 

This is different for everyone, but how much time do you spend on Facebook or online shopping? Could you reduce this time to half? Could you imagine what you could do with all this added time in your day, week, month and year?! That free time could be spent doing #2 & #3 without any added stress.

 

5) Change it Up

 

You aren't confined to your schedule, you have some time that is yours and you do NOT always have to spend it doing the same things. Instead of grocery shopping on Tuesday, you go Wednesday because you see there is a new Yoga class being offered you would like to try. DO IT! Do NOT feel confined to a schedule that has become a routine, you can do what you want, it is YOUR life!

 

6) Start Small

 

Don't feel like you have to take on all of these ideas in one day or one week even. You can simply stop scrolling through your Facebook feed every night at 9 pm and read that book you've wanted to read for the last year. Start with something simple and grow as you wish.
